Warm Breakfast Croissants
The new addition to our house, a beautiful baby girl, is just over a week old and I’ve finally started to feel like myself again so we ventured into the kitchen this morning. This is definitely going to be a slow re-introduction filled with “cheater” recipes that are better than ordering take-out but not exactly made from scratch. We’re kicking off cheat week with a Trader Joe’s product that I’m crazy for. They are mini croissants that you place frozen on a cookie sheet over night and let them rise. In the morning your entire house smells yeasty and doughy and the croissants haven’t even started cooking yet! My kid is WILD for these. Here’s the scoop:
Prep Time: 5 mins Cooking Time: 15 to 20 mins
Ingredients:
1 box Trader Joes Mini Croissants (in the freezer section)
1 egg lightly beaten
1 tablespoon of water
Remove mini croissants from freezer and place on greased cookie sheet. Let sit overnight. (We put them in the oven with it turned off.) In the morning remove croissants from oven. Croissants should double the size and should look doughy. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Meanwhile, make egg wash by adding water to egg and beating lightly. Paint each croissant with egg wash using a pastry brush. Cook in oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until croissants are golden brown. (If they are just light brown they are not done on the inside.) Serve warm with jam. Makes 8 croissants and dazzles company! (They are called mini croissants, but I think they are the perfect size for kids and adults alike.)
