Cheater Pain Au Chocolate Taste Test

My husband and I watched It’s Complicated the other night and when the pain au chocolate making scene came on we began to drool. We looked at each other and decided this was something we must make. I did some research and discovered making pain au chocolate from scratch is quite an undertaking. Most recipe’s I found had a 6 hour prep/cooking time. Ha, yea right, 6 hours! That’s just not possible in our busy house with 2 little kids. Instead we decided to try the cheater version using puff pastry. I know, I know it’s not the same, but SIX hours for the real deal?! Now that we were set on the cheater method, what type of chocolate should we use? This is where the kids got very involved with input. Ideas were getting wild and before I knew it the candy section of the store was on my counter. Which one did we like? The least expected and one I almost didn’t make.
