Winter Nature Walk

Winter Nature Walk

No matter what part of the country you live in, winter has a way of bringing on cabin fever. I’ll admit in advance that this post is a terrible specimen of what I’m talking about, but I had all the best intentions. My goal was to create a winter nature walk. Something to do on a brisk day that gets you out of the house for a change. Even if only for 10 minutes.

Winter Nature Walk

I created this adorable work sheet and we set out with a marker and clip board to see what we could find along the way. Yes, this picture was taken during the winter. Yes, my kid IS wearing a short sleeve shirt. Yes, it was 80 degrees. I really didn’t mean for this to happen.

My kid had the best time searching for things throughout the walk while we discussed how different places have different types of winter.

So here’s the kicker. There was one thing on the worksheet we absolutely couldn’t find: clouds. I do understand the irony in it. And I humbly apologize. But, I think you will love our winter nature walk as much as we did even if you are bundled up in a snow suit while doing it. Now for the instructions…

Supplies:
Winter Nature Walk Worksheet
Marker
Clip Board

Attach your worksheet to a clip board and get out there and hunt for stuff. Cross off each item as you find it. See who can find the most items during your walk.

It snowed in LA this weekend. Should have put that on the worksheet!

Wonderful idea– thanks for sharing! Though, I have to say your cabin fever and mine may be a bit different. Your kid is wearing a t-shirt in the picture, and standing in front of green grass. You wouldn't be able to see my kid, in an outdoor pic right now, behind her hood and face mask, buried somewhere under a drift (mountain) of snow. I'm just sayin'……….
