Grilled Maple Turkey Bacon

You know how great bacon tastes when it gets some pancake syrup on it, right? Well, I’m sure that’s what inspired the maple bacon recipe in Barefoot Contessa at Home: Everyday Recipes You’ll Make Over and Over Again. We were inspired by that recipe, but decided to make turkey maple bacon on the grill. My kid did a lot of supervising but not much hands on cooking because he’s still a bit to young to be leaning over a hot grill. He did not hesitate to eat the finished product, however!

Cooking up this turkey bacon on the grill was unbelievably easy and there was no mess because the grill catches all the drippings. And yes, it tastes as good as it looks. Now for the recipe…

Grilled Maple Turkey Bacon Recipe

Prep Time: 2 mins  Cooking Time: 15 to 20 mins

Ingredients:
1 package nitrate free turkey bacon
1/4 cup real maple syrup

Preheat your grill to 350 degrees. Lay strips of bacon directly on the grill, cover and flip every 5 minutes for 15 minutes. Use a pastry brush to brush maple syrup on each slice of bacon. Cook for another 2 minutes on each side and serve.

You can totally do it with pork bacon no problem. I'm sure it will taste awesome especially with the maple syrup. Yum!

You can also use sow belly, which is fresh bacon i.e not cure, it is wonderful with any type of sweetness, molasses, syrup or honey.
