Delicious Passover Charoset

With baby #2 due in just over a week, we were thrilled to be invited to a Passover Seder at a friend’s house. We, of course, volunteered to bring various Passover favorites… starting with this Delicious Passover Charoset recipe! This Passover Charoset includes several different varieties of apples and both walnuts and pecans to make a sweet and nutty spread. My kid is crazy for it — both of us can’t wait for the first bite at this evenings Seder!

Delicious Passover Charoset Recipe

Prep Time: 20 mins

Ingredients:
6 large apples (variety of kinds)
1 large lemon
1 cup walnuts pieces
3/4 cup pecan pieces
1/4 to 1/3 cup sweet passover wine
2 to 3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Peel, core and slice apples. Place them in a bowl and squeeze juice of entire lemon over them. Toss and set aside. Place walnuts and pecans in a baggie and let your kid smash them with a rolling pin or the back of a hard spoon until the pieces are very small. (Fun!)  Place 1/2 of the sliced apples in a food processor and chop until small but not pureed. Coarsely chop the rest of the apples by hand and combine both the coarsely chopped and processed apples in a large bowl. (This gives the charoset a really great texture.) Add nuts, wine, sugar, honey and cinnamon. Stir to combine. Can be served immediately, or for an even bolder taste, let sit in the refrigerator overnight. Makes 4 cups.Print Post
