Home Baked Holidays: Easiest Gift Ever
This year I saw old fashioned popcorn through new eyes when I watched my kid squeal as we made Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn. Sometimes the simplest things in life are what delight the most.
This recipe is no exception. Not to mention the fact that it taste 1000% better than microwave popcorn.
Plus, you can buy a GIANT bag of kernels at just about any bulk store. It makes for a cheap-yet-lovely gift idea. We got this glass jar at the container store, but you could even use an old pasta jar. Once you put the ribbon on the top and affix the labels it dresses right up. You can download the Happy Holiday labels here and the Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn Recipe Labels here. This really is the easiest Christmas gift ever. Now for the recipe…
Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 cup organic popcorn kernels
vegetable oil
2 tablespoons granulated sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Cover the bottom of a large pot with oil and place over medium heat. Add kernels, cover loosely and wait for popping. When popping starts, lower the heat and shake the pot. Once popping slows remove from heat . While still warm shake cinnamon sugar mixture onto popcorn and stir together. Transfer to bowl and serve imme
That is a really cute idea.
Cinnamon sugar popcorn sounds way addictive!
I have a feeling what I know my Christmas gift is going to be this year!
Genius! I love that idea. You could also offer microwave directions (all you need is a paper bag) as an alternative method!

Do you include the cinnamon-sugar as part of the gift?

This is my kind of gift! Easy and yummy.
We always make popcorn on the stove, but I tried it with a little sugar for the first time just last week! I'll have to try it again (for practice, right?), because I had the heat up a little too high and nearly burned the sugar. Everyone ate it anyway, though!
Could you post the link to the jars at The Container Store? Thanks!

We make a lot of Kettle Corn here but this sounds like a lovely new treat!
woo-hoo! Teacher gift!

This is so exciting that you posted this recipe. Me and my family have just rediscovered "old fashioned" popcorn thanks to our piano teacher and now the kids ask for it about 3 x a week. So this will be a fun addition. maybe even be fun to give this recipe as a gift to the piano teacher.
thanks for all the great family friendly recipes.
